400.480 STUDENT GOVERNMENT POLICY

The president and board of trustees will recognize an organization as an official unit of the college, responsible for representing a student constituency comprising either the student body as a whole or a particular segment of it. The existing student government is the Associated 学生 of 皇冠8868会员登录 Valley College (ASWVC).

1400.480 STUDENT GOVERNMENT PROCEDURE

A. 定义

The Associated 学生 of 皇冠8868会员登录 Valley College (ASWVC) is a self-governing student organization which functions within the framework of policies and regulations adopted by the board of trustees.

Associated 学生 of Community College District 15 is divided into the ASWVC, composed of all students attending WVC and the ASWVC-O, composed of all students attending 奥马克的WVC. The principle student governing body (student senate) is comprised of 14 elected and appointed officers on the 皇冠8868会员登录 campus and nine elected officers on the Omak campus.

To be eligible to run for an ASWVC office, the student must be formally enrolled in at least six credits and have a 2.75 cumulative grade point average.

The ASWVC student senate schedules activities, projects, charters student clubs, and provides a mature and effective liaison between the student body and the college administration 和老师.

B. PRIVILEGE OF RECOGNITION

  1. Use of the name of 皇冠8868会员登录 Valley College with the approval of the president.
  2. Use of campus mail.
  3. Right to post and exhibit materials on campus in accordance with school policy.
  4. Fund raising activities with approval of the president.
  5. Space assignment in college facilities.
  6. Funding allocations.

C. FINANCIAL OPERATIONS

The financial activities of student government shall be in accordance with prudent business practices and generally accepted accounting principles. All financial activities and records are subject to audit by the college or its agents at reasonable times and under reasonable conditions.

D. SERVICE AND ACTIVITIES FEE

In 1988, the Washington state legislature authorized community colleges to collect a service and activities fee from registering students. The fee is determined on a 百分比的基础上.

E. POSITIONS ON PUBLIC ISSUES

Student governments shall have the right to address and take positions on public issues. Positions on issues taken by student governments shall not be represented as or deemed to be official positions of the college.
